There are few things that creep me out. However, weird looking automaton fembot type women is one thing that makes my flesh creep. You will understand why watching Katie Britt give the State Of The Union rebuttal speech was pretty disturbing.

I am not usually moved to write about such things, but on this occasion I think it may warrant it. I sat and watched this speech the other night with Sylvester.

“Really,” I said. “You’d think she’d know not to wear emerald green unless you can pull off emerald green!”

Sylvester shot me a look.

“It’s a nice kitchen,” he said.

And that really was about all there was of substance in the entire speech. The décor and the poor taste of the clothing choice. That and a pile of bizarre phrases thin on engagement and positively anorexic on policy.

‘Well, it’s nice of them to present the idea that a woman’s place is in the kitchen,” said Sylvester.

“Very brave,” I replied skeptically.

There is a sense that in a truly Republican world women are expected to have a nice kitchen, no job, a child on their breast and another on the way, with no affordable healthcare and a shrinking set of rights associated with their life generally, and their body specifically. And in this…
